Professional support for people to help make important life decisions, and to aid in writing letters, personal statements, covering letters, emails and all other important interactions with the world.

Life Choices

I offer support in making sense of your current predicaments.

Unique - I've a unique way of showing people a pathway forwards through the options available to them.

Your Choices - I don't make any decisions - merely, using your their words, ask pertinent questions that help prioritise goals, and enable ways to achieve this.
Project 02

Life Pathways

For this activity I like to sit with you in an informal but public setting (pub or cafe maybe?) and just have a chat about life in general, frustrations, dreams, expectations etc.
Then I'd start to show options, and challenge you to explain choices and obstacles.
We'd together re-work the steps, re-align activities and you'd leave with with a new, clear view of the direction you want to take.

  • Client: Amelia 22 year old
  • Issue: Choices to make around Travel vs University vs Working vs Boyfriend
  • Outcome: Together over several evenings, we worked through options and at the end, she had a simple path to follow the she had decided upon. All I did was to simplify the noise and provide an easy to visualise path.

Supporting letter writing

The wisdom of ancient trees is said to offer us all several lessons:

Resilience - Ancient trees endure through centuries, weathering storms and changes. They teach us the value of resilience in the face of challenges.

Patience - Trees grow slowly over time, teaching us the virtue of patience in our personal growth and endeavors.
Project 01

Writing Important Letters

I specialise in writing letters that take on large institutions and service providers, raising and following up on complaints and challenging corporate ineptitude. If you struggle to find the right words to put your views and opinions across - please get in touch.

  • Institution: Lloyds Bank
  • Issue: Years of poor service. After several letters they agreed to a service review.
  • Outcome: £6,000 compensation.

Personal Statements

Personal statements are one of the most important documents a young person has to create.

Honesty - It is crucial that the art of the possible doesn't become the version of the truth. A lot of young people do not know just what they already acheieved just by living their lives.

Focus on the extraordinary - whilst being prefect or head boy/girl is an achievement there are invariably other qualities and character traits worth presenting alongside.
Project 04

Personal Statements

Personal Statements cannot be generated by AI.
It is obvious to the reader when an AI generated letter arrives, as all of the personality within is stripped out.

It is so important that you stand out as an individual, and that your personality stands out, proud from the text.

We interview all clients, ideally face to face, but Teams can work too. We do this to gain a proper understanding of you before putting together your own unique statement.

  • Client: Mr Laurenti
  • Issue: Negative sounding Personal Statement
  • Outcome: Strong PS with positive statements outlining their young person's skills and personality.

Heading for the rocks ?

There is little worse in life than feeling that the journey is about to be ruined, by something either in or out od your control.

Support - I can't fix how you feel or where you are - but I can help you find a positive way out.

Bad decisions - I've worked with plenty of people who have made hideous life choices, in some cases being on trial and others actually being in prison. Hope is always available, alongside some practicality.
Project 03

Keeping you out of trouble

A promise an old friend on the night before he died, that I'd always look out for his boys. One was already along way down a dodgy path, but I still stuck to my promise.

On one occasion I wrote a supporting letter to the judge, who in summing up, declared that the only reason he didn't pass a custodial sentance, was the tone and message in the letter that I had written.

  • Client: 25 year old male.
  • Issue: Trial with expected custodial sentence.
  • Outcome: Suspended sentence

Who are we ?

James Loader is an ex-consultant from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Capita. He has been involved in some of the largest programmes in the UK, including running the Ministry of Defence Army/Navy/Airforce Recruitment project, delivering PIP for the Department for Work and Pensions and separating two banks, Santander and Phoenix Life.

Skills

He has extensive knowledge of the business world, and has written Business cases for hundreds of millions of pounds and had to present findings of months of analysis to members of the Cabinet (UK Government).

He is used to turning documents written by senior stakeholders, into a more positive state, capable of being presented to senior executives. This positive style, enables better interactions between parties at times when relationships are tense.

Pragmatic, intelligent, and a solution finder - he tends to look for the remarkable in people rather than the bland and ordinary.

Interview Techniques

He has an honest and open style when interviewing people, enabling conversations to flow easily. He looks for unique aspects of an individual that set them apart, and aims to draw out events and actions he can see are postive.

He is different to most and is adept at getting people to realise that skills they took for granted are in fact selling points. For instance, being brought up on a farm means that you're used to working to erratic stakeholders (animals) making demands, and have often managed issues and helped to reduce risks.

Not all experience comes from business interactions. Sometimes its worth looking closer to home, a prime example would be any childcare responsibilities.

  • Helping parents look after a younger sibling
  • Going shopping for a housbound parent, during busy times
  • Cooking meals
  • Helping in the garden / building / DIY

Also things like :

  • Duke of Edinburgh
    • What happened that was difficult?
    • How did you help others?
    • How did you cope?
  • Sports
    • Hardest thing you've achieved?
    • How have you helped the team?
    • How do you interact with others?
  • Hobbies:
    • Why do you do your hobby?
    • What sets this apart from others?
    • Key skills you use

Pragmatism, Honesty and Energy

Known in the Programme Management world as a 'safe pair of hands', James has been parachuted into failing programmes to turn them around and to provide stability in difficult times. He brings this knowledge to the benefit of others, as he finds it easier than most to see a solution, a way out, a way of getting resolution that others don't.

He is also an experienced foster carer, and works with Sebastian's Action Trust supporting bereaved dads.

“James is enthusiastic and committed to everything he does and his professional and open approach means he can engage with people at all levels. On a personal basis his sense of humour and fun is infectious and makes him a pleasure to work with.” David Dodds - AVP - Global Network & IT Security Manager at SGSAVP
“James is one of the most personable and professional people I have had the privilege to work with. He is one of the most easy-going people I know and really encourages those around him to give the best of themselves through his good humour and understanding yet professional nature. I would not hesitate to work with him again.” Damian Pascoe - Head of UX at Virtuoso
“James is a conscientious, focused individual. He has an attention to detail balanced with a great sense of humour. James communicates confidently and effectively at all levels (including ‘c’) with gravitas and sincerity. I would welcome the opportunity to work with him again.” Andy Tidd - CIO / Operations Director / Global Senior Programme Director
